JXD 515V Mini Drone — Great for the Kids, Great for the Family
The drone market grows day by day. From toy drones to professional drones, from large to micro, there are so many different types of drones out there that cater to all kinds of needs.
JXD is one toy drone brand that has seen plenty of success with its JXD 509G/W and subsequent 510G/W models. Now the company looks set to have another bestseller toy drone in the form of the newly released JXD 515V.
The 515V is a drone aimed at children. It makes a great gift for kids and is also fun for all in the family. Why is it so suitable for kids? Firstly, it is a somewhat small (13.8 x 13.8 x 5 cm) drone, lightweight and easy to fly. In fact, it is actually smaller than the highly popular 510G.
- 13.80 x 13.80 x 5.00cm dimension
- Enclosed propellers
- 5 – 6 minutes flight time
- 90 minutes charging time
- 50 – 60m control range
- Built-in 0.3MP camera
- Flight modes:
- Altitude hold
- Automatic take-off / land
- Headless mode
- 3D flips
- 7.4V 350mAh Li Po battery
It also comes with a small 2.4GHz remote controller which has simple yet intuitive controls. Overall, the design approach is ideal for learners and young children. It’s also designed to be very safe for children to operate. What makes JXD 515V so safe for children? Well, for a start the 515V’s four propellers are covered with protective frames that prevent them from coming into contact with objects or people. If the drone crashes or even if it hits somebody, no harm will occur because of this protective frame. This allows children to safely operate the 515V on their own (with parent supervision, of course).
Furthermore, the 515V comes with a built-in 0.3MP camera that enables you to record video and take photographs. Just press a button on the remote controller to take photos or videos. These photos are saved automatically on a Micro-SD card that is inserted into the camera itself. Image quality of the 0.3MP camera is nothing to shout about since it is a low-cost toy drone. However, the image quality is good enough to fascinate children. Unlike most other toy drones, the camera is built-in and cannot be removed.
Feature-wise, the 515V has altitude hold (the drone is able to maintain altitude on its own), headless mode and auto take-off and landing (drone ascends or descents with just the press of a button). These are great features to have for children or beginners who still lack advanced skills in piloting a drone. Altitude Hold allows the drone to maintain its altitude by itself, allowing the pilot to focus on flying or operating the camera. Headless mode simplifies orientation, especially for those who lose track of it easily.
Automatic take-off and landing can help prevent hard landings and sudden take-offs at high speed which could result in loss of control. Besides these useful features, JXD 515V can also perform 360º flips with just the push of a button.
Flight time is 5 to 6 minutes and the 515V is powered by a 7.4V 350mAh Li Po battery (takes up to 90 minutes to charge). Maximum control distance is 50 to 60 meters. That’s far enough for any kid or beginner to learn and practice how to fly a toy drone.
