Dad watches over daughter with drone
Most of you parents want to watch over your children when they’re away? A Knoxville father came up with a unique way of keeping an eye on his daughter. You’ve probably not thought about drones as a nanny cam until now. One dad had it literally hovering above his daughter on her way to school, but is that too much? Check out Chris Early’s new toy.
A drone he tests out in the park. Chris Early says, “You can get spectacular images out of it.”
Chris is a techie. He owns a video production company and loves to see what it can do. You can even see Lauren Davis and her camera crew as it hovers right above. This isn’t the first time Chris used it to check out who’s below.
A few weeks ago Chris’s eight-year-old daughter Katie asked to walk to school on her own. Chris said, “She said you’re not going to come watch me, but I had another idea.”
He got out his drone and took video of her on the way to school. Early says, “I could see other people looking up and I’m sure Katie was just like aw it’s my dad.”
Katie goes out and flies the drone with her dad. So what does she think of that? Katie says, “I was like oh wow! He didn’t tell me so I was pretty surprised.”
She says it’s cool, but some might say he’s being too overprotective. Chris says it was just for fun, but he is happy knowing she’s safe. Early says, “It was a way to keep eye on her make sure she was looking both ways. I let her know that dad is always watching.”
Early says he’s had the drone for about a month and plans on using it for commercials. He just has to wait on the FAA to approve new laws first. Right now the FAA says you can use a drone for recreational use, just as long as it doesn’t fly above 400 feet.
